Caldicot Running Club

Reset Your Running

Maybe you used to run, but took time off due to injury, to have children or for a new job and running slipped away.

Maybe you've been a regular gym-goer, and are looking for something different (or cheaper) to keep fit.

Maybe you've moved to the area and are not sure where to run (or who to run with!)

Let's make 2023 the year where you reset your running with Caldicot Running Club!

This 5 week programme is designed to help you overcome common barriers in keeping up a regular running routine.

The session will each centre around a theme:

  • 2nd Jan - Find the joy

  • 9th Jan - Find the time

  • 16th Jan - Find the confidence

  • 23rd Jan - Find the motivation

  • 30th Jan - Find the crew

Each week we'll have tips and challenges for you to help build your running habit throughout the programme.

The sessions will last 45 minutes and be delivered by a licensed run leader.

Frequently asked questions

Is this for me?

If you can run around 10 minutes and don't run regularly - yes! This is not a Couch to 5K programme, but designed for people who used to run regularly but stopped for months or even years.

The first session will not involve any more than more than 10 minutes continuous running, but if you're in any doubt, come along and see how you get on!

How much will it cost?

Nothing! We want to help you reignite your passion for the sport we love.

What do I have to do?

Along with attending our Monday guided sessions, we hope you will run a couple extra times in the week. These should be both short and slow!

The programme is aimed at building a regular running habit, not collecting personal bests. That's for after January ;)

What do I need to wear?

All you need is a pair of trainers that are comfortable to run in, and clothes that are suitable for exercise and appropriate for the temperature and weather on the day. This includes a sports bra for ladies which is suitable for hi-impact sport.

You can also bring a small water bottle if you wish to carry with you.

As it is during the winter months, you will need to wear a hi-vis and head torch for safety.

I'm nervous about attending on my own. Any tips?

It can be nerve-racking rocking up to something not knowing anyone, but remember everyone is in the same boat. The CRC volunteers on day 1 will be highly visible and super friendly. We will also have a private Facebook Messenger Group so you can get to know each other before starting.

Where do we meet? What time?

The first session will be in the grounds of Caldicot Castle and be at 12pm. We will meet in the carpark by the playground.

All other sessions will start from carpark between Caldicot School and the Leisure Centre. Provisionally, these will be held at 6pm, but we can agree as a group the most convenient start time.
